Community Week

Community Week was a new, community-led initiative for Roehampton and West Putney wards. We ran a series of events focused on improving health, well-being and communal spaces to help and support local residents.

Although the week itself was the focal point, we ran activities leading into it and are very much focused on establishing a longer-term legacy post it.   The idea came from members of the Roehampton Response Network discussing how best we could bring people together.

Councillor Claire Gilbert: “Community Week offered so many opportunities to the children at The Alton School! This was particularly welcome after 2 years of COVID restrictions, and the children and staff were brilliant at coming up with ideas and getting involved. Each year group was involved. The inter school sports event was brilliant fun, with top coaches at excellent sports venues, and the children joined in with many different sports including tennis, rugby, and football”

Community week has now funded over 70 grass root group led projects- funding 16 projects in summer 2022, and a further 6 over winter 2022.

“The week brought so many ways to be active, get outside, work together, and look after our community together. Please can we do it again next year?

Thank you to everyone involved!”
