On Thursday 6th June Surbiton Rackets & Fitness Club (SRFC) held a charity evening to raise money for the Rally for Rackets Cubed summer campaign 2024. It was a fantastic evening of food, tennis, live music and prizes!

The evening was kicked off with an introduction and speech from Rackets Cubed area manager Becky Downes where she highlighted the important partnership Rackets Cubed and SRFC have had since 2022. Every Thursday twenty-six selected pupils from Tolworth Junior School benefit from an integrated after-school programme where SRFC provide coaching, facility hire and a hot nutritional meal. Due to a recent rise in costs, Rackets Cubed launched the Rally for Rackets Cubed campaign to raise much needed funds to help continue delivering inspiring programmes within local communities.

After the short introduction, the evening events were commenced with fantastic live music from Joey Oscar. A short while later the raffle was drawn, much to the excitement of the gathered crowd. Many local businesses and organisations kindly donated prizes for the event, this included:

  • A bouquet of flowers from
  • 3 bottles of Trophy Gin from Surbiton RFC
  • A pair of tickets for the Surbiton Trophy Finals
  • A hair salon treatment from Metropolis Hair Salon

Guests then enjoyed fantastic food and drink served by Sam from Bone Idyll. The highlight of the night was the auction, brilliantly led by Jacob Hutchings Some incredible lots were for the taking including an exclusive tour & lunch at Wimbledon (AELTC) and a three-night stay in the Yorkshire Dales! Bidding began and a series of competitive, but light-hearted, bidding wars ensued.

Altogether the event raised £2,225 for the Rally for Rackets Cubed Campaign. We would like to thank Surbiton RFC for hosting and organising the event, music and catering. A huge thank you to those individuals and organisations who donated prizes for the evening. In particular we would like to thank Surbiton Rackets and Fitness Club for all their support, not just with the fundraiser but always. A huge congratulations to Becky Downes, our London area manager for a superb evening. We look forward to our continued partnership with Surbiton RFC in the coming year.
