The Christmas period saw an incredible display of generosity from our donors, volunteers and supporters.
This year over the Christmas period, families attending our social supermarket received some extra Christmas cheer. On the lead up to Christmas we received 487 advent calendars donated by local community groups and individuals. That’s 487 more children who were able to count down to the big day!
During the week before Christmas, The Roehampton Community Box (RCB), were able to support 1000 local individuals with festive food and gifts. We gifted over 450 presents and 250 Christmas bags to customers who visited our social supermarket, supporting 190 families in the process. Hub Manager, Natalie Price was thrilled to see the positive impact “The RCB social supermarket added a little sparkle to Christmas in Roehampton. This success can be attributed to the social supermarkets integration within the local community.”
It is truly incredible to see so much generosity in our communities and the impact we can have when we come together. This wouldn’t have been possible without our support from so many, including:
- Little Village
- Putney High School
- Tower House School
- Ibstock Place School
- St Margaret’s Putney
Of course none of this would have been possible without our incredible volunteers. 48 wonderful volunteers gave their time, energy and beautiful smiles to make all of this possible. This was highlighted by Nat who praised the incredible volunteers we have at RCB “The amazing team at RCB have formed a community within a community to help fight food poverty, reduce waste and make the local community stronger”.
