Children from St Luke’s CofE School took part in their first session at the incredible Britannia Leisure Centre.

Children in Year 4 from St Luke’s CofE in Hackney, North London, started their Autumn Term programme at Britannia Leisure Centre.

The programme began on Monday 2nd October, it gives children the opportunity to play squash and develop their racket skills as well as engage in fun, hands-on STEM learning. The children walked from school to the leisure centre, where the children were then split into two groups. Each group took part in some amazing maths activities delivered by a teacher from their school and began to learn the key skills of squash with Chand Channa, the programme’s squash coach.

At the end of their sessions children were given a healthy nutritious meal and a piece of fruit provided by a local caterer, The Waterhouse Restaurant. We’d like to thank Waterhouse for partnering with us on this programme and we are excited to have them on-board.

Our Schools Programme Assistant, Dan, attended the event and commented that “It was great to see the children excited to begin this programme at this amazing venue. The squash courts are fantastic and the venue is bright  and modern with an incredible studio which the children used for their STEM learning”. Our coach Chand was every impressed with the skill level shown by the children considering this was their first time ever playing squash.

The programme will continue to run through the year and we are happy to welcome St Luke’s, Britannia Leisure Centre and the Waterhouse Restaurant into the Rackets Cubed family.
